How to find a Mazda OEM part number
The vehicle model is not enough to guarantee fitment. The strongest match combines the VIN, build date, exact component location and the number printed, stamped or moulded into the original part.
Start with the original component
- Clean the label or casting carefully without removing it.
- Photograph every number, barcode and manufacturer mark.
- Check both sides, plugs, brackets and hidden mounting faces.
- Do not assume every visible number is the sellable assembly number; some identify only a subcomponent.
Use the VIN and build date
Give the supplier the complete 17-character VIN and the build date shown on the compliance or identification plate. Mazda may change a component during a model run, so year alone can be too broad.
Compare before paying
- Exact OEM number or a documented supersession
- Left or right side and front or rear position
- Connector count, shape and pin layout
- Mounting holes, brackets, sensors and included accessories
- Colour code where appearance matters
When the numbers differ
A different number may be a superseded replacement, a supplier number or a genuinely incompatible part. Ask for evidence of interchange and compare the physical details. Do not force a match based only on similar photos.
